Cannon Falls “Party on the Falls” Junior High Invitational
The Cannon Falls Speech Team would like to invite all teams with speakers in 6th through 9th grade to join us for an afternoon on competition on Thursday, February 7th.
Eligibility: Any student in 6th, 7th, 8th or 9th grade can compete. Please, do not enter any students older that 9th grade for any reason.
Entry: We are using www.speechwire.com for running the tournament this year. The tournament is “Open.” As a result, any team can create an account and enter the tournament.
Entry Deadline: Please submit initial entries by Tuesday, February 5th by 3:00 pm. We will set the fee at time. Please update your adds and drops on speechwire throughout the week and the day of the tournament. Please call en route to confirm your entry is correct or give drops/adds; call or leave a message for Cal at 651-769-5194.
Entry Fees: Registration fee will be $3 per entry (Duo entries count as two). Make checks payable to Cannon Falls High School. If sending the check, please send c/o Cal Vande Hoef, Speech Team.
Judges: Please bring one judge for every six entries. Veteran speech team members on your team can serve as judges. If you have difficulty covering your judges, just let me know and we’ll have one of our varsity speakers cover the assignment.
Awards: Ribbons given for first through sixth places, plus participation ribbons for everyone else in the category.
Categories and Format: We will host all three rounds of 13 MSHSL events according to MSHSL rules. Draw categories should show up prepared with a speech for Round 1. We will draw for Rounds 2 and 3 only.
Tournament Schedule:
Registration: 3:15 to 3:45
Round 1 4:00 pm
Round 2 draw 5:00 pm
Round 2 5:30 pm
Round 3 draw 6:00 pm
Round 3 6:30 pm
Awards 8:00 pm
Food: We plan to have a concessions stand and will update with choices the week of the tournament.
