Cannon Falls “Last Chance” Invitational Speech Tournament

Entry: We are using www.speechwire.com for running the tournament this year.  Entry will be opened in February after the conclusion of our junior high tournament. 

 

Entry Deadline: Tuesday, April 2nd by 3 pm.    Fees will be set at this time.  We have room for about 450 entries; if we exceed capacity, the entry system will close early.  Early entry is appreciated for planning purposes. 

 

Entry Update: Please update your entry with any changes through out the week and the morning of the tournament.  Please call en route to the tournament to confirm that the online entry is correct or to give drops/adds; call Cal at 651-769-5194.   The phone will be answered by 7:00 am on tournament day.  

 

Facilities: We use both high school and elementary buildings to maximize the size of the tournament.  Unfortunately, to use our space well, the judges room is on the far west end of the high school and the elementary building is several hundred yards east of the high school.  Please inform judges of the possibility of a long walk to any round in the elementary building.  Students competing at the elementary building will be there for all prelim rounds.  All finals will be in the high school.  Locations of events won't be known until after entry, so this is why double entry isn't allowed.  Also, please prepare everyone for the weather conditions.   

 

Fees: Registration fee will be $6 per entry (Duo entries count as two).  Make checks payable to Cannon Falls High School.  If sending the check, please send c/o Cal Vande Hoef, Speech Team. 

 

Format : There will be three rounds and finals in each of the 13 MSHSL categories. No double entries please. Students will draw for all rounds and finals. There will be finals for the top seven competitors.

                                                                                                                             

Judges: Each school will be required to provide one judge for every six entries; please enter as much judge information as possible online.  If you need to hire a judge, please contact Cal directly to see if we have extra available.  

 

Food: Concessions will be available and a lunch for sale similar to previous years.  Updated food information will be sent to attending teams the week of the tournament.
