Instructions for discussion at the LP Speech Tournament:
Ray Bradbury’s “A Sound of Thunder” will serve as a starting point for this tournament’s discussion rounds.  The title is hyperlinked to a copy of the story.  Technology has become an integral part of our society: for better and worse.  Each round will present a question with which to explore this topic.
Round 1: Where will technology take humanity over the course of the next fifty years?
Round 2: What are the benefits and costs of an increasingly technology-based society?
Round 3:What can society do to balance the wonder of technological advances with the resistance (or fear) to/of change?
Round 4:Considering what has been discussed in earlier rounds, what role(s) should technology play in our lives?

Though not required, a little bit of research would be beneficial.  The goal is to carry on the discussion without having to resort to statistics.  This in no way means opinions should be without base, but facts and data should not be the only source of legitimacy.
Also:
•The competitors will rank their rounds themselves.  This will be used to determine awards.
•Judges will complete critiques and assign speaker points, from 1 to 6 for each round (A rubric will be provided to help guide the
       allocation of points).
