Dear Coach:

This is your invitation to attend a Novice Speech Tournament being held at Downers Grove South High School on Saturday, November 10, 2012.  This will be a three (3) round, no final, tournament for first year competitors only.

ENTRY:  You may enter two (2) competitors in each event for a total of 28 entries.  You may request extra entries.  Extras will be admitted if space permits and first preference will be given to those schools that make the same available to us.  School with extra entries will need to pay an extra fee and will need additional judges.

JUDGES: One (1) judge for each five (5) entries or fraction thereof (maximum of 5).  If you have extra entries, you will need extra judges.  You are responsible for the number of judges needed based on your original entry.

                       12:00 noon         Lunch - no lunch will be served. There are fast  food places in the area.
         1:30   Awards - Auditorium

FEES: Entry fee of $125.00 per school for two entries, 200 for ANY third entries.  This fee will be applied to all schools that have any third entries.  You must call or email to make arrangements for a third entries.  Except in emergencies, we do not want to do extra entries at registration.  Please plan ahead. Make checks payable to Downers Grove South Masque & Gavel.  Fees can be sent ahead of time to my attention.

RULES
RADIO: Students should come with a prepared script, including commercial, with news no more than 24 hours old.

EXTEMP: Students will prep for 45 minutes.  We will have three (3) preps.

TIME: No prescribed penalty (except in Radio).

AWARDS:  Individual awards will be given to first, second, and third place finishers. (Maybe 4th if we have enough prizes!) No ties will be broken and there will be no team trophies.  No speaker points ever!

Please register no later than Monday, October 15, 2012.  This tournament fills quickly, so an earlier reply is advisable.  When we are full, we are full.
