Dear Forensic Colleagues:

The Marian Catholic High School Speech and Theatre Department is honored to invite you to the third annual "Marian Classic" Invitational to be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012!

The tournament will be held in the "classic" format of three rounds and a final round.  Extemporaneous Speaking will be double judged for one round.  Radio students need to come with a script prepared at home containing news no more than 24 hours home.

Teams will be allowed to bring three entries per event to the tournament with a base fee of $150. With permission, schools may be granted a second team of up to two entries per event for an additional fee of $50. Please email Delia Goldrick (dgoldrick@gmail.com) if you would like to bring a second team. Space is extremely limited due to the size of our school so registration will fill quickly! We are expecting a great turnout like last year, and we would love to see you there!

Please email all inquiries to Mark Donaway, Head Coach, at mdonaway@marianchs.com.

JUDGE REQUIREMENTS
Teams are required to bring a number of judges based on the number of entries they are entering in the tournament.  If you have a very large entry and are bringing neutral judges, it would be helpful if you could notify us of the number of neutral judges 7-10 days before the tournament.
1-7 entries: 2 judges required
8-14 entries: 3 judges required
15-28 entries: 5 judges required
29 or more entries: 7 judges required

RADIO AND EXTEMP SPEAKING RULES
Radio speaking students will bring a script containing news no more than 24 hours old with them to the tournament, which they will use during preliminary round competition.  Extemporaneous speaking students will prep one speech for preliminary rounds and will deliver it in each of the two prelims.  Students making the final round in Extemp or Radio will prep a new speech/script for finals.

SCHEDULE
A full tournament schedule is posted on the schedule page of SpeechWire’s registration area.  Registration begins at 7 a.m. and competition begins at 8 a.m.  The tournament will be run in a staggered format, so that three rounds of preliminary competition (two rounds in extemp and radio) are spread over four timeslots.

Again, we look so forward to welcoming you into the warmth of our school at the beginning of the season. Have a blessed and successful season!

Sincerely,

Mark Donaway
