Northrop Debate Meet

Coaches, ~ You and your team are invited to the Northrop Debate Tournament to be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2011. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. with Round One beginning at 8:30 a.m. The entry deadline is 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12 and will be done through speechwire.com. Each school will receive its individual registration code via email, and you will also receive instructions on how to register through that website. ~ Events: ~ Policy Debate will be offered in varsity and novice divisions. ~ Lincoln-Douglas Debate will have varsity and novice divisions in which the Sept/Oct topic will be utilized. ~ Public-Forum Debate will have varsity and novice divisions in which the October topic will be in place. ~ Congress will have varsity and novice divisions with bills/resolutions 2, 10, 13, and 14 being debated. Bill #16 will be an alternate. Please let me know if you have a candidate for P.O. ~ Divisions ~ Novice is being defined as having no debate experience prior to this school year. ~ Students may compete in Novice Policy if they have no prior Policy experience.
~ Judges: One judge for every four debaters is expected. Please let us know if there is going to be a problem before the competition. ~ Awards: Ribbons will be awarded to the top eight debaters in each event and division, while trophies will be awarded to the top five schools.
~ Food: We will provide food for the judges in the judge’s lounge. Students may purchase their meals in the cafeteria. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BUILDING.
